We are located on the west coast fringe of the Lake District 5 miles south of Cockermouth, 4 miles East of Workington. Connections to main line railway is Workington station, on the West coast line to Carlisle station Main line. Carlisle Airport is a short taxi ride North of the city. There is no rural bus service to Branthwaite, but we are served by many taxi companies in the nearby towns.
Be aware if driving with SATNAV most of the small village of Branthwaite is on one post code, with no street names. The Art Lounge is the second property on the right when entering the Village on the Western edge, coming from the A595, 50 yards before the Wild Duck Pub.
Entering the property from the road into a large gently sloped gravel car park, the main entrance is accessed by set of 6 stone steps, with hand rails either side. A double door way (low threshold) enters into stone tiled porch and further double door way (low threshold) into generous hard floor hallway and reception, off this hall are the ground floor public rooms, dining and gallery.
The reception hall leads to the main stairs, two flights of carpeted stairs (13 and then 8) with handrail one side, split by half landing and leading to the main first floor landing, where all the main house bedrooms are located. Soft carpet floor coverings to the bedrooms with level access to all hard flooring en-suites. Each en-suite has a large shower cubicle tray accessed by approximately 150mm step up into the cubicle, The Lautrec room also has a roll top bath. The public toilet is also located on the first floor.
Our property includes an easy access garden suite, with level access sleeping and bathing facilities, and breakfasts delivered to this suite for those less able bodied. This suite is accessed through the gardens via a gentle sloping gravel pathway from the car park and ramp access to the property through a wide doorway is possible.
